The prime requirement for international students for studying in UK is student’s visa for UK. In the recent times the rules for Students visa are made stricter by the UK Government therefore it is advised that students must understand the visa procedure so that there application doesn’t get rejected. To get a student visa your admission should be accepted by any of the reputed universities in UK for a full time course. Besides this academic qualification and financial requirements factors are also considered.
Mandatory requirements
A few basic requirements are necessary to be fulfilled in the application for student’s visa. A candidate must have been given the proof of under graduation or graduation course that a student going to pursue from recognized university, the duration of course must be more than 6 months and course must be a full time course which requires a minimum of 15 hours of study per week. Along with these candidate have to show the documentary proof that he has enough financial assets to support his education and stay in UK.
Application Procedure
Application for Visa can be made by using VAF3 form that is available on UK visas website and candidate can download application form the website. Students can submit applications in near by visa application centre. Once you make bio metric information the visa application will proceed. You have to attach you documents along with you application which includes you academic credentials, letter of acceptance from UK Universities, evidence of term time accommodation and documents addressing financial capabilities to afford your expenses during your stay in UK. In case if you are attaining some scholarship or financial aid you have to attach documents regarding the scholarships. Certain course related to post graduate study also requires you to get an (ATAS) Academic Approval Scheme certificate. The Visa officer will verify all your documents and even ask you certain questions related to your visa category before giving formal acceptance to your application. It will be wise to take the officer’s advice at this point, or you may risk forfeiting the non-refundable visa fee.
Extending the Visa
Once the graduation has been completed, you may get admission in some higher level courses for which you are required to extend your visa. In order to extend your visa you have to apply to UKBA United Kingdom Border Agency where you have to show acceptance letter of institute where you are about to further your educaitonal journey.
Student Visitor Visa
Those students who are below 18 years of age or those students who are going for short term courses where duration is less than 6 months they have to apply for student visitor visa. Under student visitor visa candidate are not allowed to extend its visa duration and neither can undergo any type of employment during there stay. If student required extending the visa for further education they have to come to home country and make a fresh application for student visa.
