The last two months of the year [November and December] marksthe onset of winter as well as the opening of admissions for the next academic year in the schools and we usually find baffled as well as confused parents who find it difficult to make a choice for a good school for their children. It is noticed that many of them hesitates to choose international schools in India for their wards, as they are many misconceptions about it like, “it being the place for rich and famous, along with difficult curriculum and not for average students.” Though, being a knack of some elite class students earlier, today these educational institutes houses learner from different walks of life. My aim to write this article is to clear the stereotypical notions that surroundthese educational institutes, by citing the reasons for you to get your child enrolled in these schools.
International Curriculum
Things that does not change, gets rotten with the passing times. It is unfortunate, nevertheless, true, that a majority of public and private schools in the country faces the same situation. They still teach the syllabus that was prepared years ago. It hardly gets revised or updated with the changing trends, moreover, the flaws in the text-books are never contemplated for correction, these factors can provide a strong argument to consider international schools as an option for your kid, as they follows IB school program or CIE which are globally recognized educational programs. It is timely revised and updated to suit the ever-growing demands and competitions in the real world. Besides, it helps the child to develop an independent thought process as well as an analytical mind and not suppress the natural urge to ask questions.
Wide Exposure
International schools in India have always been a centre of attraction for children of top executives working with MNCs, NGOs, embassies, et.al. In short, the parents who are frequent movers opt for these educational institutes. Thus, it houses students who come from different countries having different cultural backgrounds. When your child studies in such diversified environment, he or she will get unlimited exposure which will help them to be confident, self-dependent and friendly with others. Besides, they will also learn about different cultures as they will get a chance to interact with their peers who are nationals of a foreign country. His interactive ability or communication skills will improve a lot, as they will learn to talk with people from distinct ethnicity.
Emphasis on Extracurricular activities
“All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy”, we hear this line frequently by many child psychologists. It is in fact a proven information that when children are given enough space to pursue their hobbies orparticipate in extracurricular activities, they do develop self confidence and the boldness to face the world. Also, children active in hobbies club or sports develop a competitive edge.IB school program and other such globally accept educational programs often lay an emphasis on club activities and sports. And therefore offers have a wide range of sporting activities and other non-academic activities like cricket, volleyball, swimming, elocution, dance, paintinget.al. Apart from this encourages the students to participate in various uniformed groups like scouts-guide and N.C.C. which are excellent character-builders.
Equips your child with life-skills
The outer world is getting though to face, with the ever increasing challenges. The text-book knowledge is not enough for your child to face these challenges. They need qualities like boldness, cleverness, positive attitude, to face the real world. With its well designed curriculum and excellent pedagogy, international schools in India can provide your child with all the necessary skills that will help them to face the world, once they step out of their comfort zones.
We would have come across this phrase “School is a child’s second home”, many times, in books, magazines, T.V. shows, et.al, which is so true as a child spend 1/3rd of his day in the school. They learn values and skills while in the school, which by and large determine their future. International schools in India can provide a student friendly environment which results into overall development of a child.
