Solutions For College Funding
Going back to School…It all starts with a decision. If you are teetering on this …the best thing to do is to sit down and really think about what you are good at, but more than that what you really love; what you’re passionate about. Write it all down on paper, and be honest. No one will see this but you. Hold nothing back. You may work in construction and should really be a veterinarian, or perhaps you are a retail manager but were meant to be a dentist? Are you a hairdresser that should be a bartender? There are schools for this, and Obama backed government grants and scholarships available for moms and dads that want to better their lives. We all know how fast time flies…why wait. The time will pass anyway…you might as well get back to school and go for your dreams now.
It’s tough to make ends meet in today’s economy…especially if you are a single dad or mom. Are you frustrated…always trying to make ends meet? Maybe you need to mix things up a little. College may be the answer; there is a lot of support on campuses all across the US for single parents returning to school. They have whole departments in place just for your situation where they offer helpful guidance and support. Support such as financial aid counseling, childcare resources, remedial tutoring to get your skill levels up to par, peer groups, and on and on.
Colleges get a certain amount of funding every year to care for your needs…they are vested in your success because their future funding depends on their registration and graduation records. Without students they lose funding. Once you are enrolled they will make financial aid information available to you. There are many, many sources of funding that you will discover once you are on campus. The first step is to discover your purpose and passion. Next apply at fafsa.com (every college will ask you to do this first), and then find the school you would like to attend. Lastly, make that call. You as a single parent, have nothing to lose and everything to gain for you and those that love and depend on you.
