The views and thoughts of Early Childhood Education

Early childhood development and literacy during early childhood is a major concern and has been for several years.  During this stage children are not only expected to meet educational goals, it is also imperative to set forth and accomplish social goals.  Since children learn at different rates it is important that the educator as well as the parent acknowledge these differences; be patient, and handle these learning differences accordingly.  This also applies to social skills in children which again can be nurtured by the influence and motivation of educators and parents.  In order for these goals to be accomplished educators should always stay open to new suggestions to properly educate their auditory, visual, and hands on learners, and lastly but most important be patient.

In order to promote early childhood education and development, programs need to be geared toward the educational level for that child as well as accommodating any special needs.  For instance, if given the proper tools and adequate teaching techniques a 4-year old should be able to listen to a story, answer questions and figure out what will happen next.  Not only are they able to listen and comprehend, they learn to study the pictures to help with understanding the story.  There are many skills and educator can teach by reading a story such as; counting skills, order of events, color skills, shapes and size.  Our children gain so much knowledge from listening to a story.

In short early childhood development literacy is of great concern today.  All educators make a major contribution simply by just being there for the children.  When educators allow the students a chance to express themselves creatively and to learn they are allowing the students a chance to flourish and to achieve
