Title:Embrace the Privilege of Child Education
By Yudit Silverio
For a child every day brings a unique opportunity to learn and experience something new, as a child care provider one has the responsibility of making it a positive and exciting experience. All children are different but the learning process is the same. Children learn by observing and exploring the world around them. Keeping in mind the physical and mental abilities of the children under your care, plan your classes ahead of time, get all your materials ready before you start the day and make a schedule of the day activities so that the children know what to expect next. You can even use illustration if they do not know how to read words. Always follow the schedule, and if you are not able to follow it, explain to the children why a change is needed, and allow them to get involved in the process of getting a replacement activity.
Your curriculum needs to enhance learning through physical, social, emotional and educational stimulation. You also have to meet each child individual needs in a safe, nurturing and loving environment. If the children feel safe they will be open to explore and try new thing which will ultimately foster the learning process.
Learning centers is the best tool we have to enrich their curiosity and knowledge. Playing together in a well equipped center allows the children to develop in all areas, not only socially but emotional, physical, cognitive and creative. It is very important that all Activity Centers promote literacy. There should be books and writing material at all the activity centers. Make sure materials such as;
• Paper
• Crayons
• Markers
• Paints
• Play Doug
• Puzzles
• Books
• Music Instruments
• Blocks
are plentiful and at easy access so that the children can reach them by themselves, it will make a more inviting environment. Children should also be encouraged to speak openly, yet in a positive manner. We can help them by providing them with the right words to use at a given time. Always be ready to offer your help.
The outdoor area is not just for a playground, take your center outside is amazing what you could do when you are outdoor, is a totally different experience that the children enjoy, and it opens the door for a fascinating curriculum, clean up time gets easier as well and we all love that.
By providing the children with a well equipped and interacting classroom you are giving them the opportunity and tools to use their full potenial.
Learning should be fun and exiting don't forget to enjoy it !!!!
