Understanding discipline is the most important part. In our world today discipline may be looked upon in having many meaning. When it comes to young children discipline mean"punishment" and to many other its mean"guidance. In the childcre areana the intent of discipline should be to teach children how to behave according to the rules and conduct that are established within there day to day environment.
In a childcare discipline should mean the method staff use to manage childrens behavior.
Most offten people wonder how disicipline will be applied in the infant room. Its very apparents that infant will not misbehave in ways of fighting, yelling, ignoring request, or act in a destructive mannor. Nevertheless, infants can be disicplined. for example people do not pick up an infant when he/she cries because they believe this will spoil the child. This is a form of discipline because people use it to manage an infants behavior. When infants start to move aboutand start getting into things becoming more indenpendent and able to walk away frm adults who want to impose and unwanted action upon them, discipline issues grow.
Certain types of discipline depends on the adults expectation for the child. Expectaions for behaviors are what adults think children shhould be doing successfully. These expectations determine what they try to get the children to do and how they handle non-compliance. There are many typesn of expectations for what children should know, understand intellectually, physically, and socialy. Many adults have diffrent expectations to where a child are in their actual development, and to they can do and really understand. Adults who work with infants and toddlers should undertsand that children develop gradually. Adults should not have the expectations that infants & toddlers are "instant" pre-schoolers or or act older and more mature then they really are.
