Starting back with Word Processors, computers have been around for a long time. As the World Wide Web grew, so did the need for better computers. With today’s standards, one would need a good computer that has speed, various capabilities, and is protected from viruses.

As the computer field continues to expand to keep track of improving technology, so do other job opportunities. Once the only jobs heard of were that of IT management, computer programmers, system managers, etc. Extending past those still popular and important careers are the web page developers and designers, layout specialists, graphic artists, 3D animators; and the list goes on.  As a graphic artist/web designer/developer, a good computer is definitely needed to maintain a solid working environment. Ideally, the computer should have the most recent computer build including a dual core processor with the highest amount of memory available to handle designs as well as animation. Beginning artists/designers/developers can get away with 2046 MB memory, but as their repertoire grows, the need for more memory and speed. Thousands of years ago calculations were done using people’s fingers and pebbles that were found just lying around. Technology has transformed so much that today the most complicated computations are done within seconds. Human dependency on computers is increasing every day. Just think how hard it would be to live a week without a computer. We owe the advancements of computers and other such electronic devices to the intelligence of men of the past. Technology continued to prosper in the computer world into the nineteenth century. The twentieth century was filled with important inventions that are still widely used today. Invented by four men at Bell Labs in 1947, the transistor became one of the most essential inventions of the times. With the collaboration of so many brilliant mathematicians and scientists, computers have become increasing more productive and efficient. Calculations have gone from counting on our fingers, to using high speed electronic computers. They have become essential to the functioning of our everyday lives. Computers are all around us and can be considered a wonder of the world. Thanks to the computers, we drive computerized cars, receive letters sent by computers, astronauts can go to the space and return safely. Thus, the computer has significantly changed our world through advances in science and medicine, business and education. In fact the computer is a wonderful electronic brain that we have come to rely on. Children today are brought up to much on relying on the Internet and the computer. We think that it would have been more useful if we were taught when we were younger to rely on using resources from the library or by looking it up in books. It also does not allow them to develop skills in revising and spelling because the computer has all those programs all ready in it. It can bring down a childðs vocabulary and spelling level. By children just depending on computers also can affect the way that children learn. It gives them everything right in front of them so they never have to actually go out and obtain things on their own.
