Ad-ware has been popular for its strong protection engine and they have been trying to develop it with the last version which was released as version 8. The current version which is 9.5 continues to use the advance strong protection which it has been developing for a while. In the new version Ad-ware has used a new term called “Dedicated Detection” which is a supporting feature from Genotype. Ad-Aware has also used another new engine called Magma Shield.
Installation
The new release of Ad-adware is a simple to install. The antivirus does not attempts to install any toolbar or nor does it tries to change the search engine priority. The best part about the installation is the installation file from last year has been shrunken to 12MB from 130 MB. The 12 MB files first downloads the rest of the files required for the installation i.e. 80 MB which is comparatively much less than the files the other security devices. However the installation is not very fast and can take up to 5 minutes and also requires a reboot.
Interface
The interface of the new version 9 is much same as the last version 8 and which is needs to be changed. The main screen has three main icons like Web Update, Scan system and Ad-watch. The name are quite self explanatory and helps you to perform scan on the hard disk and the browser without any delay. At the bottom you can also see the options that can help you to see the advance mode. Advance mode bring the hidden icon which are hidden because of the Extra button on the top right hand side.
Features
As we discussed earlier, the new features that has been included with the new version are Dedicated Detection and Magma Shield. However a home user may not even notice the changes as they are internal mechanism. The scheduler has come up with some change and you may notice it, if you use the free version you can only set two free scan for your computer, however if you are using the premium version you will be able to set the scan up to your choice. The protection features is not limited to the scanning of the computer you can also get the browser scanned and delete all the temp files and folders and also clean the browsing history. The tool is called Browser Track Sweeper is compatible with Internet Explorer Fire fox , Chrome and Opera.
Performance
The performance of the new version of Ad-Adware has not been impressive and the time taken for scan is too long. Even the quick scan takes almost 4 minutes where as the quick scan is as long as 2 hrs. The computer boot time however can slow down as long as 4 minutes with the New Version. To conclude with the performance is a grey area for Ad-Aware Internet Security.
