  • A simple way to make sure that iPhone applications run as an iPad application is to modify the tool that target setting in Xcode application. Create a new View-based Application using Xcode.

  • Name the project and Double-click on the ViewController file to edit the Interface Builder in it. Populate the View window with Label, TextField, Button.

  • When you are back in Xcode, press Command-R to test the application on iPhone Simulator.

  • Change the simulator and debug and then press Command-R again. Now the application shown running in the iPad Simulator as an iPhone application. This considered as the default behavior of iPhone applications that are running on the iPad.

  • Expand on Targets item and select the application's item. Click the Info button to display Info page. Then click on Build tab and scroll down the list. Select iPhone/iPad for the Targeted Device Family setting, under the deployment section.

  • Press Command-R to check the application on the simulator again. The application runs naively as an iPad application this time.
