Here a method to teach you how to transform a print into an electronic manuscript. Recently a friend of mine who just has a job often complains to me that the work is complicated and the data is heavy many, her boss gave her a file with ten pages yesterday and demanded her to type it into an electronic manuscript. So I taught her a simple method which can easily and quickly transform a print into an electronic manuscript. The method is as follows:

In the first place, you have to scan these prints or files through a scanner and save the scans on the computer. All of the normal units have scanners. It doesn’t matter do not have any scanner, you can use a digital camera to take photographs and put the photographs into WORD. But in the meantime, you also have to install a self-contained component, either Office 2003 or Office 2007. Click “Start Menu”, choose “Programs”, find “Control Panel”, and then you can find “Office” in the “Add/Remove Programs”, next choose “Alter” and find the component of “Microsoft Office Document Imaging”, click “Running in this computer after installation” and finally you can begin the installation process.

At first place, install and check the scanner, next start the “Microsoft Office/ Microsoft Office Tool/Microsoft Office Document Scanning” from the “Start Menu”, finally you can scan paper prints.

Attention: If the component of “Microsoft Office Document Imaging” is not existed in the default “Setup Programs” of Office 2003 and this is the first time that you use this function, you can insert an installation CD of Office2003 to complete installation. For the paper prints scanning, so we commonly choose a “black-and-white image” to scan paper prints. At this time you also have to set a “black-and-white image” and recommend setting the resolution ratio of 300dpi. After scanning, the photographs will be automatically inserted into the other component of “Microsoft Office Document Imaging” in Office 2003.

Click the “OCR” button in the tool bar, and then the photographs just have been scanned can be read. Press the button of “Send Text to Word”, the words just have been read can send to “Word”. If you want to obtain part of the words, just select words you need by dragging a rectangle over them with the mouse. Then right click on the “Send Text to Word”, the words in the selected area can send to “Word”.
