The Suzuki Swift has been through several reinventions over the years, but the one defining quality has always been fun.
It looks like the new Suzuka Swift Sport is going to maintain both traditions – it has a couple of tweaks, such a as six-speed gearbox, and it’s still great fun to drive.

There’s a new 1.6 litre engine that packs more punch than that of the current Swift Sport, with an improvement from 123bhp to 134bhp, which will shave 0.2s off its 0-62mph time. (It can cover the distance in 8.7 seconds). Impressively, the extra kick is accompanied by an improvement in fuel economy, fro, 39.8 mpg to 44.1.
Handling improvements have been attributed to the new 17-inch alloy wheels, each of which is a full kilo lighter than those of the current version, while the list of standard equipment includes projector headlights, fog lights, automatic air-con, push-button start, cruise control, Bluetooth, and tinted glass.
The sporty feel is completed with racy seats and a purposeful-looking five-dial instrument cluster.
The Swift Sport has a large and loyal fan base in the UK, so demand for the new and improved version is likely to be brisk.
