Foil Pouches – An Overview
Foil Pouches have ushered in a revolution with a storm that has transformed the entire packaging industry dramatically. Foil pouches are created from thin pressed aluminum sheets that are sealed from three sides while the fourth side can be manually sealed. Foil pouches are an integral part of Flexible Packaging. There is a large variety of pouches ranging from zipper pouches, zip lock pouch, plain and printed pouches. Pouches are generally used for packaging of foodstuffs and perishable edible goods. One of the most significant advantages of pouches is that pouches keep the food stuffs absolutely fresh and are vacuum filled in most cases. The protection of fresh foods from moisture and air keeps the food totally free from contamination. Induction Seal Wads are primarily used for sealing of products in both PET and HDPE containers and are aluminum linings in screwing caps that protect the product from leakage particularly liquids.
A Vast Array
Zipper pouches are foil pouches that come equipped with a zipper on the top of the pouch which can be zipped open and closed at one’s own convenience. Zip lock pouches have a small lock on the zipper that seals the pouch maintaining the freshness of the food item. There are printed pouches available that are pre-printed according to the requirements of the customer who intends to package the food item. The data for printing is provided to the manufacturer prior to placement of the order. However, plain pouches are also available where the customer prints the relevant information and details of the product that is being offered on sale to the customer.
Characteristics of Foil & Other Pouches
The present trend is that foil pouches and other types of pouches are used for packing a large variety of food stuffs, milk and milk products, meat, fish and poultry products, butter, margarine, oils, pickles, snack foods and other various foods. One of the most popular and widely used pouches is the stand up pouch. While the properties of all the pouches are the same, as they are prepared from aluminum foil, the stand up pouches can be made to stand in a vertical position without any spill outs. However, foil pouches are laminated to avoid any intake of the metal. One of the finest examples of foil pouches is that when anyone purchases any product, they are sold in foil pouches or zip lock pouches or stand up pouches.
