You have just got the new home painted, finished shopping for the home décor, visited the electrical wholesalers and bought yourself electrical switches. What if the latter turn out looking horrible against the overall home appearance? Getting them painted is not a very good idea. You may run into extra expenses and there is no result guarantee either.

Installing and replacing the odd equipments would be the ideal option in such a situation. The home becomes your pride factor and fetches you oodles of accolades from neighbors and friends. Let us now discuss the ways you can install switches conveniently.

In the first place, turn the power off at the panel of the main breaker. Secondly, get the cover plates of electrical switches removed. The plate is fixed to the wall using screws. Hence, unscrew to allow yourself access to the switches. Make sure that the old electrical switches are disconnected. Take off the screws holding the switch against the electrical box.

There are all total a pair of screws one at the upper half and another at the switch’s lower end. You will find another pair to the right of the electrical switch each bearing wires in the shade of black. You have to retrieve the wire by loosening the screws.

Get the alternative switches installed. Put the black wire retrieved from the erstwhile switch’s top end on the screw located top right of the new switches. Now get the other wire taken from the older equipment’s bottom half to place on the same position of the new fittings and have the screws tightened.

Fasten the new electrical switches on to the box. Ideally the new switch pack will contain a pair of fresh screws. Use them to get the switch attached. Have the cover plates replaced. They will again stick to the wall supported by screws. Turn on the power.
