Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is something that makes you different, special, and distinguishes you from your competition.
I assume that you are proud to sell your product and proud of the service you are offering. But why should people buy off you? What is special about you? What is your USP?
If your product is the same as everybody else's, think about how you can differentiate yourself from the other companies. Imagine you are your own customer; what would appeal to you? Which service would you like to see added that nobody else is offering? Think about something unique. A gap, niche or need that is lacking everywhere else. Don't promote cheap prices if everybody else does the same. If this is the case it would be better to promote higher prices for better quality and service. But make sure you can deliver on your promise -- otherwise your Unique Selling Proposition will work against you.
A powerful USP focuses on the benefits your product or service offers to your clients. Sit down and write a paragraph or two about what's unique about you and your business. Which benefits do you offer that your competitors aren't? Is there any niche you could address that others would have difficulties imitating? First write down anything you can think of, then summarize it and make sure you come down to what's really special about you and what offers a real benefit to your client. Once you have worked out your Unique Selling Proposition use it in all your advertising and marketing and tell people about it. And the next time somebody asks you: Why should I do business with you? You don't have to think much to produce your answer.
