Top tips to market a new website

So you or your company have built a new site and are very excited about it, you’ve been waiting weeks for it to go live. But, now that it has gone live, how do you get people to visits the site? With millions of websites out there how do you get yours noticed? <a href="http://www.gforces.co.uk/web-marketing/view/11/seo">SEO marketing</a> is not easy, PPC can be expensive and Social Media takes up a lot of time.

Below I have made a list of things you can do to ensure your new site has a goof footing if you were to do any active online marketing in the future.

1. Submit your site to search engines – Google, Yahoo! And Bing

2. Write a descriptive and unique title for each page. Use just five to eight words. Ensure that this is marked as 'title' in the html code.

3. Make sure you have keywords in your content. They should mirror what users would type to find your pages. You can add them to your image alt tags and link title tags too.

4. Metatags, these are embedded in a website’s html code but do not appear when viewing the site. They can help search engines to index your site content.

5. Ask for links from other industry related websites.

6. Submit your website to directories; some will let you submit deeper pages too.

7. PR releases, write unique content about your industry and release them to online PR sites.

8. Offer content for others to use in their newsletters and sites. Embed hyperlinks in the content so that when people use the content you get links back to your site.

9. Send out email newsletters, this will help to build a loyal visitor base.

10. Promote your website everywhere. At conferences, in web forums and in your email signature.

If you were to then carry out a PPC or SEO campaign your site will be ready and have a decent head start.
