If you are going to advertise a job for your company then you need to know what to do.  Recruitment can cost a lot of time and money so you must be sure you are getting it right.  Too many businesses end up paying out again for recruitment when they do not attract the right candidates the first time round.

Three Golden Rules to Recruitment

If you want to advertise a job successfully then you need to know the three golden rules.  These apply to all kinds of jobs across all kinds of industries.

Rule1: Attract Attention

There can be thousands of jobs on offer at any one time.  This means you will have to work hard to attract attention from the right target audience.  You need to think very carefully about what sort of candidates you want to apply for your position and how you can best reach out to them.

When you are putting together your advert it can help to look at the competition.
See which adverts stand out for you and how you could apply the same principles when you advertise a job.
Also look at the places these similar jobs are advertised.  This will give you a good idea about where you need to place your advert.
For example there is no point advertising for high level executives in local papers only. You need to reach out nationwide both offline and online to attract the higher level of candidates suitable for your position.

Rule 2: Create Interest

Once your advert has attracted attention then you need to create an interest in the position available.  You need to provide full details of the role (in the job specification) and list any benefits the job could bring (medical cover, pensions, bonuses etc).

You need to make sure when you advertise a job that it is relevant to your ideal candidate and offers them an opportunity that is too good to refuse.

Rule 3: Provoke Action

You also need to make sure the candidate clearly knows what to do next once you have got their interest.  Make sure the advert provides clear instructions on how to apply for the position or who the candidate needs to contact to find out more.
