The Ibiza is a supermini model produced by SEAT – the Spanish car company that is part of the large Volkswagen Group. The Ibiza has been in production since 1984 and is SEAT’s bestselling car. The very first edition of the Ibiza was SEAT’s first model as an independent company, although it did team up with many 3rd party companies to produce it. The second generation was introduced after the takeover by the VW Group.
The new SEAT Ibiza sport model is the fourth generation; it was introduced in 2008 and is available with 3 or 5 doors as well as an estate model. The new SEAT Ibiza comes with a choice of six engines, three petrol models and three diesels. The smallest petrol is a 1.2 litre with 60PS, then there is a 1.4 litre with 85PS and the range topping 1.4 litre TSI that has 180 PS. The diesel range is made up of a 1.2 litre that has 75 PS, a 1.6 litre with 90 PS and a 2.0 litre with 143 PS.
Earlier on this year SEAT added the Copa trim to the Ibiza, the trim is available for the 3/5 door as well as the estate. The Copa models are based on the SE spec trim with the addition of extra trim, including;
• 16" 'Fabula' alloy wheels
• Climate control, including a refrigerated glove-box
• Rain and light sensors for automatic wipers and lights
• Dark tinted rear windows
• Leather steering wheel and gear knob
• Auto-dimming rear view mirror
• Bespoke Copa upholstery
The above is in addition of the standard equipment which already includes cruise control, six-speaker MP3 compatible radio/CD with AUX-in and steering column-mounted controls, alarm, immobiliser and electric windows.
