If you are going on holiday, let’s say Ireland and are thinking of car rental in Northern Ireland then see if you can get hold of any of the very practical 4 door saloons listed below. They are your every day normal looking cars but with a monster under the bonnet. Each of these cars can do in excess of 200 MPH and because they are saloons they are still family friendly and practical.
Let us start off with a version of my favourite car, the BMW M5 – out of the box it has a limited top speed of 155 mph. But, German tuning companies Hartge and Hamann can carry out an override function and take the M5’s top speed up to a more reputable 203 mph!
Want a really big car that can do more than 200 mph then the Brabus powered S Class Mercedes is the one. With its 789bhp V12 engine and automatic gearbox it can easily do 217 mph and with all the luxury touches you can drink your champagne without it spilling at the top speed.
Another one of my favourites is the Audi RS6, now many say that the RS6 can top 200 mph in standard form but Audi electronically limit it to 155 mph. Another German tuning company, MTM can make the RS6 reach 217 mph by adding a 720 bhp lump in the front.
The humble Mercedes Class with a Brabus tuned engine can reach 223 mph thanks to its 6.2 litre V12 engine that has 740 bhp. This specific model is called the Bullit and it costs £310,000!
Last but definitely not least, another M% derived pocket rocket, this time it’s the G-Power's monstrous Hurricane RR. It has a 800 bhp engine and it has been recorded doing 231 mph, that’s almost as fast as a Bugatti Veyron!
